Surrounded by Textures (Selfie 2016)The overall message I am trying to convey with my image is all the interesting textures around you in life give off different feelings and emotions. My first layer is a stone wall in my house, and it represents the unfinished things in life. My second layer is an oriental carpet in my house, and it is meant to show the intricacy and complexity of everything in life. My third picture is a floral rug that represents brightness and happiness of life. I made my photos partly transparent because I thought it would be interesting to see how the pictures went together, representing how all things in your life are related. Overall, my selfie project is intended to show the intricate "layers" of life.

The Inner ForestThe two photos I used for my double exposure was a photo of my backyard and selfie of me. In my selfie, I was looking into the distance as if I was searching for something. The photo of my backyard was taken at the most scenic part of my backyard with the woods and the green grass. In this image, I was trying to show my connection with my backyard. I wanted to give off a feeling of serenity and calmness.

Comparing and Contrasting: I have improved a lot in my photography skills since the first selfie assignment. My first selfie was kind of boring and had no meaning. All I did was just look into the camera with a blank face. Also, the pictures in the background showed little meaning as they was just pictures of carpets. Now, I did an interesting pose as if I was looking into the distance, and the background is very green and lively and shows much more meaning. Also, my pictures were taken in natural light, unlike my first assignment. To conclude, my double exposure is much more clear and interesting than the first assignment and I have improved tremendously in this class.
